Compass April 2019
Compass provides commentary and analysis of recent legislative and regulatory developments affecting pensions and employee benefits.
With political events moving so fast, we have decided to make this a ‘Brexit-free’ publication so that we can concentrate on developments that are significant but may get overlooked in all the excitement.
Accordingly, we‘re focusing on what the Government and the Pensions Regulator are doing to protect defined benefit (DB) pension schemes. This includes proposals from the Government to strengthen the Pensions Regulator (our first article) and the 2019 Annual Funding Statement from the Regulator about its expectations of trustees when they are negotiating their scheme’s funding arrangements with the sponsoring employer (our third article).
Defined contribution (DC) pension schemes are also on our radar as we set out a Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) consultation that aims to both encourage innovative DC investment and promote the consolidation of DC schemes into larger schemes (our second article). The DWP has also responded to a recent consultation on introducing Collective DC Schemes to the UK, and we report on that in our fourth article.
Elsewhere in Compass, we cover:
Workplace Benefits report examines the employee attitudes to workplace benefits.
As one of the UK’s leading advisers on pensions, we provide actuarial, investment and consulting services for defined benefit (DB) pension schemes of all sizes, including journey planning, funding and risk management strategies.Learn more
